Mining the Model | CSI Madison-AIA SW Wisconsin BIM Presentation | Jan 12 Evening

MADSPEC | Madison Wisconsin Chapter of the CSI

MADSPEC | Madison Wisconsin Chapter of the CSI

I am providing a Building Information Modeling (BIM) educational presentation for CSI Madison Chapter and AIA Southwest Wisconsin for CSI’s January 12th evening meeting.

A RSVP is requested by January 5th; however,

  • if you need more time, please email Curtis Norton, CSI, CCS on or before Friday January 8th, so that Curt can finalize the meal quantities and seating prior to the meeting.

Mining the Model

Building Information Modeling (BIM) provides value through real-time 3D visualization and the measurable design data within the virtual facility project.

A computer-based facility model; provides 2D/3D facility information that can be “mined” for a variety of design, documentation, analysis and reporting tasks.

  • Development of project programming-scope,
  • Space planning-efficiency studies,
  • Green & sustainable design: green space-solar studies, heating-cooling loads
  • Communicating to clients the ROI of your best design options
  • Auto-create project schedules for DD/CD project phases: door, window, room finish,
  • Equipment, sheet management/sheet index, life-safety plan submittal
  • Create construction specifications as the design develops,
  • Engineering analysis: heating, cooling, structural, day lighting, etc.
  • Construction: material take-off, cost estimating & phasing schedules
  • Tracking and marketing the post-construction value of your building design: building maintenance-lifecycle cost analysis and much more.

My presentation will demonstrate how firms are “mining” the value of design information using a Building Information Modeling process. We’ll use a live facility model for our discussion.
